Sociography: Writing Differently

Sociology is just as much an art form it a science. And while sociologists and those in cognate disciplines have long experimented with their writing, the search for new academic forms practices has acquired urgency potentiality. How we write up our research of paramount importance: language can be used experimental innovative ways to offer nuanced, critical commentary without foreclosing alternative viewpoints, excluding others from dialogue. Sociography offers spaces sensibilities sensitivities; unresolved or incomplete argument; multiple, multi-dimensional multiplying possibilities: writing differently. As intervention social, collection works resist ideological promotion dry, dispassionate, seemingly ‘objective’ discourse, one which traditionally upheld set dominant, privileged voices. so doing, explores potential social both trans- post-disciplinary academy wider reading public; seeks that do justice curiosity animates sociology. In sum, challenge embraced by this argue showcase praxis activates sociological knowledge enlarges imagination.
